About Michelle
Michelle is a Coast Salish Indigenous performer from the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, with additional ancestry from the We Wai Kai Nation. She grew up in Surrey BC, where she was immersed in the arts from a very young age.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts from Capilano University, and has been working professionally across Canada for over a decade as an actor, singer and writer. Most recently, Michelle was on stages at the Stratford Festival, The Grand Theatre, and the NAC. Before that, she had the honour of originating roles in the world premieres of three new Canadian musicals, Pollyanna and Maggie (Theatre Aquarius) and Tell Tale Harbour (Charlottetown Festival). Other select credits include Belle in Beauty and the Beast and Sophie in Mamma Mia! (Arts Club), Jovie in Elf (Grand Theatre), and Eponine in Les Miserables (Chemainus Theatre Festival).
Michelle has also made headway in the voiceover world. She was a guest star on Spirit Rangers (Netflix) and multiple voices for Barbie web shorts (Mattel), in addition to narrating multiple audiobooks and commercials.
In recent years, Michelle began writing a new musical based on the love story of her ancestors, tentatively named Coast Salish Love Story, with two composers, Mark Camilleri and Darla Daniels. In 2024, Michelle received a Canada Council grant to develop and workshop the show, which took place in The Normal School at The Stratford Festival. In 2025, Michelle received a First People's Culture Council grant to further develop and workshop the show, which took place in Vancouver at The Carousel Theatre.
